This summer, we vacationed in Orlando, Florida. That's right...Disney World. Finally, we got a chance to see what all of the talk was about. Unfortunately, we went during one of the hottest and most crowded weeks of the year, July 4th week.

I was very nervous about purchasing a timeshare week online, Ebay to be exact. But it turned out well, and I had plenty of conversations with the seller before finally making the bid. We spent eight wonderful days at the most beautiful resort in Florida, the Marriott Grande Vista. Ah, it was so wonderful. Two bedrooms, jacuzzi tub, living room, kitchen, dining room, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, balcony overlooking the pool ... believe me, it was worth every bit of the money that I paid for it. We're thinking about doing it again, but not during the summer!! LOL Since I'm afraid to fly, we decided to make a road trip out of it. We left Maryland on Saturday morning. We drove to Florence, South Carolina and stopped and ate dinner at Shoney's, one of our favorite restaurants while traveling South. We spent the night at the Red Roof Inn right across the street from the restaurant. The next morning, we left for Orlando and checked in to the Marriott that afternoon. We did the whole Sea World, Magic Kingdom, etc. thing and left Florida on the Saturday after July 4th. Again, we spent the night at the Red Roof Inn in Florence, South Carolina, and continued driving to Maryland the next day.

It was the best vacation that we had in a long time. Would I drive to Florida again, knowing what I know now? Yes I would, I'm a chicken when it comes to flying.
